The beans are a member of the leguminous family, characterised by its very pleasant taste and consistence. Generally beans are sold fresh and can be found throughout the four seasons of the year. They are very easy to prepare vegetables, used in a large variety of recipes; they should be eaten cooked.

Proteins: 1.90-2.39 (g)
Fat: 0.24-0.50 (g)
Fibre: 1.89-2.20 (g)

Green beans do not have fat, cholesterol or sodium, and are low in calories. They are a source of carotenoids provitamin A, vitamin C, fibre, potassium, folate and certain fytochemistry. Although its nutritional level is similar to most vegetables we should highlight their high content in thiamine vitamin B1) and riboflavin (vitamin B2)

Due to their high content in vitamins and fibre, green beans favour growth, development of bones, reproduction and protects against various types of cancer and cardiovascular illnesses. Their low energetic content (calories) and their important role in the metabolism of the energy make them especially suitable for overweight with intestinal atonement.
